# Action Required

> Answer typist and editor offers and clear jobs that are overdue or due within the day — the transcription queue.

When a red number appears beside Transcription in the sidebar, click Action Required underneath it. Everything the agency is waiting on you for is on that page as a card: offers you haven't answered, and jobs on your bench that are late or nearly late.

The count refreshes on its own every three minutes, but only while this browser tab is in front. Leave the app open behind something else and the numbers freeze until you come back, so use the refresh icon at the top right if you've just submitted something and want the page caught up.

<Note>
  Assignment emails carry a link that works without signing in. If you already accepted or declined from your inbox, the card is simply gone by the time you open the queue — it was the same action, not a second one.

## Taking or turning down an offer

A card appears under Assignments when the agency offers you a typing or editing job. It names the role and shows the media duration, the page count, the due date and — when the assignment is billable — an estimated payout worked out from the page count and your rate.

Accepting moves the job onto your active list, and you're emailed when the task is actually ready to start. An editor's turn doesn't begin until the typist hands off, so accepting and starting are not the same moment.

Declining asks for a reason from a fixed list plus a comment, required if you pick Other and capped at 500 characters. Declining is final: the card goes and the offer only comes back if the agency deliberately re-sends it to you.

## Clearing a job that's late or nearly late

Overdue and Due Soon hold the same kind of card, split by the clock. Due Soon is anything due within the next 24 hours; Overdue is anything already past its due date.

They only count jobs sitting at your stage — a typist while the job is Transcribing, an editor while it's Editing. A job in a stage that isn't yours can't be late for you, so it won't appear here even if its due date has passed.

What clears the card is submitting your work, and the card's main control does that one of two ways. On a job set up to use the built-in editor it's an Open button through to [the transcript editor](/team-adF2334soP/transcription/transcript-editor). Otherwise it's an Options menu holding Download Files, Download as Zip, the transcript once one exists, a message thread, and Upload & Submit. [Managing Jobs](/team-adF2334soP/transcription/manage) walks through the submission itself.

## How the tabs behave

All is always there. Assignments, Overdue and Due Soon each get their own tab, with their own counter, only while they have cards — so the tab strip changes shape as you work. Clear the last overdue job and the Overdue tab vanishes and you land back on All.

Clear the last card in the whole queue and you're sent to your active jobs rather than left on an empty page, and the Action Required link disappears from under Transcription until something new arrives. An absent link means nothing is pending, not that you've lost the page.

## What doesn't show up here

Money doesn't. An invoice you haven't submitted, or one submitted and not yet paid, won't badge this queue or anything else — check [Getting Paid](/team-adF2334soP/accounting/manage) directly for that.

Neither do your proceedings or your own documents. Those have their own separate queues under Proceedings and Dashboard, each with its own count.
