Saving signs you out of every other session on every other device you’re signed in on. The browser you’re changing it in stays signed in; everything else has to sign in again with the new password.
What the password has to have
Between 6 and 250 characters, with at least one number, one lowercase letter and one uppercase letter. A special character is not required — the checklist won’t ask for one and the save won’t refuse without one. Use one anyway if you’re picking the password yourself, or let a password manager generate something long and random and forget about the rules entirely.If you’ve forgotten it
Use the “Forgot password?” link on the login page. It emails you a reset link, and the link lets you set a new password without knowing the old one. Finishing a reset also signs out every existing session, and it clears any failed-attempt lockout on your email address — so if too many wrong tries have blocked you out, a completed reset gets you moving again without waiting.Resetting your password does not switch off two-factor authentication. You’ll still be asked for a code from your authenticator on the next sign-in.
