Proceeding Types, Travel Distance & Daily Capacity

As an admin, you can configure work preferences for teammates to ensure scheduling and assignments align with their availability and capacity. These settings cover whether a teammate can handle remote or in-person proceedings, how far they are willing to travel, and how many hours per day they are available.

What You Can Configure

  • Support Remote Proceedings – Toggle whether the teammate is available for remote work (e.g., video/teleconference-based proceedings).
  • Support In-Person Proceedings – Indicate if the teammate accepts in-person jobs.
  • Travel Distance / Radius – If in-person is enabled, set the maximum distance the teammate is willing to travel (in miles or kilometers) from their base address.
  • Daily Capacity – Define how many hours per day the teammate is available to work. This is especially important for part-time teammates, as it helps calculate workload capacity and prevents over-scheduling.

How to Update Preferences

  1. Log into the Admin Dashboard.
  2. Go to Workers.
  3. Select the user whose preferences you want to configure.
  4. Open the Preferences tab.
  5. Toggle Remote Proceedings ON/OFF.
  6. Toggle In-Person Proceedings ON/OFF.
  7. If in-person is enabled, enter a Travel Radius (e.g., 25 miles / 40 km).
  8. Enter the user’s Daily Capacity (e.g., 6 hours per day).
  9. Save your updates.

Why These Preferences Matter

  • Ensures assignments align with each teammate’s real-world availability.
  • Helps avoid offering jobs that are too far away or impractical.
  • Balances workload so teammates don’t get overbooked.
  • Improves scheduling efficiency across the team.
  • Provides transparency to clients and managers about coverage and limits.

Example

PreferenceSetting
Remote Proceedings✔ Yes
In-Person Proceedings✔ Yes
Travel Radius30 miles
Daily Capacity5 hours/day
If both remote and in-person are enabled, the teammate will be eligible for a mix of jobs. If in-person is disabled or the travel radius is small, only local or remote jobs will be considered. Daily capacity ensures the teammate will not be assigned more hours of proceedings than they can reasonably handle in a given day.
