Our system uses Amazon EC2 and Amazon S3 to handle file processing and storage securely and efficiently.
How It Works
-
Amazon EC2 (Windows Instance)
- Responsible only for converting Rev.ai’s TXT output into a formatted Microsoft Word document.
- No audio or transcript files are stored on the EC2 instance. It acts solely as a conversion engine.
-
Amazon S3 (Storage Buckets)
- All audio and video files are uploaded to S3.
- Files are stored for 60 days, after which they are automatically deleted.
- Transcript files and associated log files are stored in the relevant job bucket.
Key Points for Managers
- When a transcription job runs, audio is uploaded to S3 and processed by Rev.ai.
- The resulting TXT file is sent to our EC2 instance for conversion to Word format.
- The completed Word document is then saved back into the correct S3 job bucket.
- The EC2 instance is stateless — no files are permanently stored there.
This ensures that all files remain secure, time-limited, and accessible only within the appropriate job workflow.
