This queue holds one thing only: overdue invoices. An invoice joins it the day after its due date, and only while it’s still unpaid — an invoice due today is not overdue today. Everything else, including invoices that aren’t due yet and your payment history, lives in Accounting.

Finding it

Action Required sits in the left menu nested under Accounting, with a red count beside it. The entry only exists while something is overdue — when the last invoice is settled, it disappears rather than sitting there at zero. Transcription and Proceedings have their own separate queues, holding the estimates, confirmations, deposits and delivery payments that are blocking live work. An overdue invoice is a different problem from a blocked job, so nothing crosses between them — see Transcription and Proceedings.
The count refreshes every three minutes, and that timer pauses while the browser tab is in the background, so a number can be a few minutes behind. Opening the queue refreshes it immediately, as does the refresh icon in the top right. Paying from inside the queue updates the count straight away.

Working through the list

The menu entry opens the All page, which lists overdue transcription invoices and overdue proceeding invoices as two tables, one above the other. Each row shows the invoice number, the case, the total and the date it was due. Pay Now sits on the row, with Download Invoice in the menu beside it. Across the top sit tabs: All, Transcription and Proceedings. The two service tabs only appear while that service has something overdue, and each carries its own count. Unlike the transcription and proceedings queues, this one stays where it is when you finish. Settle everything and the All tab shows “All caught up” rather than sending you somewhere else.
If Pay Now is greyed out, the invoice either hasn’t reached QuickBooks yet or your access covers the job but not its billing. See Why Pay Now might be unavailable, which also covers what to do when the QuickBooks tab never opens.
Paying clears the balance and moves the invoice out of the queue; for what the payment window does while that happens, see Pay an Invoice.
